Well...this will be the last drone foam shot for a while.
Had a little mishap with the cheap plastic Chinese drone. Seems that if it falls about four feet that the landing gear isn't rated for that. Oh well. Off to the DJI fools it goes and I'm sure they'll hit me up for a few yen for the benefit of fixing it for me.
Nevertheless, flying in these condition didn't suck as much as I thought it would. I was able to take off and land pretty easily. Probably 30MPH sustained winds and 45 MPH gusts. I was shocked at how well the little thing held up in the sky for this image. It was rock steady, albeit the battery was draining significantly faster than normal. But when you know the train is past MP 18.7 and you are sitting at about MP 19.8, it's not that big of a deal.
Now...would I fly again in these conditions? Yes, but only after the snow has quit falling and there is one hell of a ground blizzard being kicked up here. I mean...look at the lack of snow just beyond the trees. Would make for a really neat scene if the sun was out and getting some stuff kicked up.
