DESCRIPTION:

Dates in command: 3 Jan 1938 - 17 Jun 1940

US Naval Academy Class of 1920. Upon detachment from NOP, was transferred to USS COLORADO as Damage Control Officer. Promoted CMDR in 1941 and CAPT in 1942. Commanded USS NIOBRARA and USS KAWEAH, both fleet oilers. Later promoted to Rear Admiral, died 1983.
