Facts about Immunization (Hepatitis b vaccine)..!!!
One of the major life-threatening liver diseases is Hepatitis B. It is a significant global health problem and can cause chronic infection and leads to death with either cirrhosis or liver cancer. The virus gets transmitted through physical contact with the blood or other body fluids of the person who is infected. The disease can be prevented by using birth vaccinations followed by 2-3 other vaccines.
The most common ones being:-
1. A 3-dose program of hepatitis B vaccine– the first dose being given at the time of birth and the second and third is given at the same time as the first and third doses of diphtheria, pertussis.
2. A 4-dose schedule- a monovalent birth dose is followed by three monovalent or combined vaccine doses, preferably given with other vaccines.
