The Rosette Nebula

The Rosette Nebula (Caldwell 49) is an emission nebula in the constellation Monoceros.

The cluster of bright young stars at the centre of the 'rose' are blowing a bubble of radiation outwards causing the hole in the centre. This activity causes the gas to glow to form the distinctive shape of this nebula.
