Transitions 2 (35" X 72")
This series of figure images, entitled “Transitions” is an exploration of some of the changes that people, especially women, experience throughout their lives.
In these pieces, the figures, although a focus, are not the main focus. Strong shapes and lines created in the designs become key elements of the compositions. The figures are softened by edges that come and go and the positioning of the bodies suggest that the figures’ attention is far away.
Many of the questions that we as women face are tied strongly to our physical selves. Our physical bodies change, often causing a sense of unfamiliarity and a loss of control. Questions and doubts about our bodies confuse us and leave us questioning who we really are and what we are truly capable of.
