My original intention had been to find some normalized pictures of lesbians to find some sort of inspiration for my project. However, I was both shocked and not surprised to find the results were mostly explicit and bordering pornographic. Shocked, because I had been looking for lesbians in a platonic setting, but also not so because I know that lesbians are sexualized – it is the topic of my project after all. Then, my partners suggested that I look up ‘gay’ and ‘straight couples’, and so I did, intrigued to find that while both the search results for lesbians and gay led to explicit images, the results for straight couples featured both gay and lesbians in the platonic setting I had originally searched for. These such screenshots are images that I hope to somehow include in my overall project.
