A high-resolution scan of Charlie Chin, taken from the article "Killer Whales" by Jon McDermott, featured in the June 1973 issue of Animal Kingdom Magazine (a now defunct New York Zoological Society publication).
The original photo was taken by John Colby.
This is not Nootka2 as some online users have hypothesized; she was captured two months after this issue went to print. While the dorsal fin is at an unfortunate front-view angle, the distinct eye patches and underbite are features unique to Charlie. If you zoom in, a few of his teeth are visible.
