SP and Sierra Railroad work the interchange in Oakdale, CA.
The hand off of cars was personal back in 1970. The SP local to Oakdale arrived early in the morning as the Sierra Railroad Baldwin S-12s back to the interchange tracks in downtown Oakdale. The caboose is being dropped on the house track and the Baldwins will pick up cars left by the SP local, then proceed to the Sierra yard to complete assembly of their eastbound train this morning. The head end brakeman is watching the action as the rear-end brakeman signals the engineer to move across West G Street.
