Antsirabe (Madagascar) – Est-ce ainsi que les hommes vivent ? chantait Léo Ferré, sur un texte de Louis Aragon. Si le poète évoquait les bordels et la prostitution, cette question qui revient en refrain dans la chanson, on peut légitimement se la poser en voyant cette scène.
Dans ma vie, j’en ai vu, photographié ou filmé des choses portant atteinte à la dignité humaine. J’ai le cuir tanné et il en faut beaucoup pour me choquer. Cependant, voir d’un côté un groupe d’humains et de l’autre, des chiens, fouillant à l’unisson les entrailles d’un tas d’ordures pour leur survie respective… Les mots me manquent pour décrire ce que j’ai ressenti à ce moment. La photo parle d’elle-même. Elle vaut mille mots.
Chose rare, j’ai longtemps hésité à prendre cette photo. Il m’a fallu un certain temps avant de trouver le courage de m’approcher et de braquer mon objectif.

In my life, I have seen, photographed, or filmed many things that violate human dignity. I have a thick skin, and it takes a lot to shock me. However, to see, on one side, a group of humans and, on the other, dogs, rummaging in unison through the entrails of a garbage heap for their respective survival… Words fail me to describe what I felt at that moment. The photo speaks for itself. It is worth a thousand words. That said, and this is rare for me, I hesitated for a long time before taking this picture. It took me some time before I found the courage to approach and aim my lens.
