A permanent reminder

As previously mentioned, my bathroom mirror serves as a place of critique every day; however, this time it reflected my older sister’s hand writing, promoting a message of “loving yourself first” and of conquering self-harm. I constantly search for love and approval from others, when I do not feel content with myself as a person. Without reaching this step, my identity and my overall wellness will not continue to mature over time. This selfie served as another reminder and placed more of a positive light on the dreaded bathroom mirror. Additionally, it is important to note that reflections (from a mirror) form a part of surroundings. Moreover, reflections can be internal, and guide actions and desires, too. Internally reflecting upon this image a few months later, I realize that people cannot have their identities and desires completely fulfilled without actions to back their declarations. For example, I initially did not take steps to love myself and slipped further into darkness despite my tattoo serving as a driver.
