EMD’s SW1000 Yard Switcher
The Denver & Rio Grande Western acquired 10 SW1000 locomotives from EMD between Sept. 1966 and May, 1968. Three of the 1000 HP switch engines were assigned to the Salt Lake City, Utah area (DRGW 147-149). No. 147 was sitting outside the Roper Diesel Shop in South Salt Lake on May 20, 1977. It would be retired by the SP in Oct. 1995 and sold to Progress Rail Services in Albertville, Alabama. History from UtahRails.net.
