American Archives - beautiful rot 01
Mica Herrin. Bay Minette, AL. Cerca 2014.
I have been living in Spain now for almost three years and I am applying for my permanent residency very soon. All of the cumulative movement of the world at the moment is looking like I will be staying here more permanently. This is my new home.
My photography journey started in my childhood when I was still living in the United States. That was a time long before I had a Flickr account. This account has become like an archive to me. Recently, I was categorizing some of my oldest photographs from my preteen and teenage years and I wanted to add them to this collection I'm making out of my Flickr account. I still cherish these memories so much and would be devastated if they were somehow lost. Some of their messages are no longer relevant to my current life and others are borderline inappropriate, but I have decided to include them for my own sake. I think they are beautiful because I believe that they encapsulate the innocence and at times helplessness of childhood that I could never recreate in this current chapter of my life.
Hence, I am giving them the title of The American Archives as that chapter of my life may have closed without me immediately realizing it at the time.
