EN: In 1981, the CP 1907 left the halls of Sorefame north of Lisbon. Built at that time for the Portuguese railroad, the new, powerful locomotives of French origin were eagerly awaited. Large parts of the network were not electrified and the locomotives were urgently needed for travel time reductions and heavy trains in fast passenger service.
Over the years, however, modernization in Portugal did not stop. Many lines were electrified. Thus, the 3 remaining type 1900 locomotives play only a minor role today. It is all the more pleasing that the new owner Medway continues to need the locomotives or even refurbishes locomotives that have already been withdrawn. 1907 is the first locomotive that received the new Medway design a few weeks ago and shines in the evening light on its journey from Setubál to Mineira de Neves-Corvo.

DE: 1981 verliess die CP 1907 die Hallen von Sorefame nördlich von Lissabon. Damals für die portugiesische Eisenbahn gebaut, wartete man sehnlichst auf die neuen, starken Lokomotiven französischen Ursprungs. Weite Teile des Netzes waren nicht elektrifiziert und die Loks wurden für Fahrzeitkürzungen und schwere Züge im schnellen Personenverkehr dringend benötigt.
Mit den Jahren hielt jedoch auch die Modernisierung in Portugal nicht an und viele Strecken wurden elektrifiziert. So spielen die 3 verbleibenden Loks des Typs 1900 heute nur noch ein untergeordnete Rolle. Umso erfreulicher ist es, dass der neue Besitzer Medway die Loks weiterhin benötigt bzw. sogar bereits abgestellte Loks aufarbeitet. 1907 ist hierbei die erste Lok, welche das neue Medway-Design vor wenigen Wochen erhalten hat und auf ihrer Fahrt von Setubál zur Mineira de Neves-Corvo im Abendlicht erstrahlt.
