What a view!
EN: When the wind comes from the south in Switzerland, the air is often particularly pure and the Alps seem closer than they really are. Today was again such a day and there are a few places in Switzerland where the perceived proximity to the mountains is particularly well staged. One of these places is in Auslikon, between Pfäffikon ZH and Wetzikon. Normally only suburban trains run here on their way to Wetzikon, but a few times a week a gravel train runs from Hüntwangen to Hinwil and back. The spot in Auslikon is actually a very late summer spot, so the locomotive also has a lot of light on the front. I decided to go to the spot a little earlier today and try to get the mountain panorama in the background.
In the centre is the Glärnisch, about 2915 metres above sea level, which forms the central element of the Glarus Alps and blocks the view of the main Alpine ridge.
On this day Re 620 035 "Muttenz" had the honour to pull the empty gravel train 67578 back to Hüntwangen. It's a pity the driver can't see the magnificent panorama!

DE: Wenn in der Schweiz der Wind aus dem Süden kommt ist die Luft oft besonders rein und die Alpen wirken näher als sie wirklich sind. Heute war wieder einmal ein solcher Tag und es gibt einige Stellen in der Schweiz, bei welchen die gefühlte Nähe zu den Bergen besonders gut in Szene gesetzt wird. Eine dieser Stellen ist in Auslikon, zwischen Pfäffikon ZH und Wetzikon. Normalerweise verkehren hier nur S-Bahnen auf ihrem Weg nach Wetzikon, doch ein paar mal in der Woche verkehrt ein Kieszug von Hüntwangen nach Hinwil und wieder zurück. Die Stelle in Auslikon ist eigentlich eine sehr späte Sommerstelle, so dass die Lok auch richtig viel Licht auf der Front hat. Ich entschied mich heute etwas früher an die Stelle zu fahren und zu versuchen, das Bergpanorama im Hintergrund in Szene zu setzen.
Im Zentrum steht der rund 2915 Meter über Meer gelegene Glärnisch, welcher zentrale Element der Glarner Alpen bildet und den Blick auf den Hauptalpenkam versperrt.
An diesem Tag hatte Re 620 035 "Muttenz" die Ehre den leeren Kieszug 67578 zurück nach Hüntwangen zu ziehen. Schade sieht der Lokführer das grossartige Panorama nicht!
