Re 4/4 170 + Re 465 017 in front of an empty tank train
Later in the afternoon of 24.02.2021, a full tank car train departed Basel for Bettwiesen, where it was unloaded overnight. Due to problems, however, the train did not return to Basel in the morning of 25.02.2021, but spent another half day in Bettwiesen.
To my delight, the train was then still brought to Basel with a good 3 hours delay and I was lucky enough to be able to photograph this dissimilar pair shortly after Schneit.
Contrary to their sisters at the SBB, the Re465 of the BLS are compatible with the locomotives of the type Re 4/4 of the SBB as well as the BLS as well as with the Re 6/6 and can be remote controlled by them. What used to be commonplace has become a rarity today and so I took the chance to go to the line again for the "old" appearance of the BLS. While the brown Re 4/4 are facing their near end, the Re 465 will get a second life. With an extensive overhaul, the locomotives will receive a new neon green appearance and soon shine in new splendor. Both locomotives have not been maintained in recent years, which is also revealed by their exterior.

Am späteren Nachmittag des 24.02.2021 fuhr ein voller Kesselwagenzug von Basel nach Bettwiesen, wo dieser über Nacht abgeladen wurde. Aufgrund von Probleme fuhr der Zug jedoch nicht am Morgen des 25.02.2021 zurück nach Basel, sondern verbrachte noch den halben Tag in Bettwiesen.
Zu meiner Freude wurde der Zug mit gut 3 Stunden Verspätung dann doch noch nach Basel gebracht und ich hatte das Glück, dieses ungleiche Paar kurz nach Schneit fotografieren zu dürfen.
Entgegen ihren Schwestern bei der SBB sind die Re465 der BLS mit den Loks des Typs Re 4/4 der SBB sowie der BLS wie auch mit den Re 6/6 kompatibel und können von diesen Ferngesteuert werden. Was früher Alltag war ist heute zur Seltenheit geworden und so nutzte ich die Chance, nochmals für das "alte" Erscheinugsbild der BLS an die Strecke zu fahren. Während die braunen Re 4/4 ihrem nahen Ende entgegenschauen, werden die Re 465 ein zweites Leben erhalten. Mit einer ausführlichen Revision erhalten die Lok ein neues neongrünes Erscheinungsbild und erstrahlen bald im neuen Glanz. Beide Loks werden in den letzten Jahren nicht mehr gepflegt, was auch ihr äusseres verrät.
