The Arts and Crafts style, 1932-built Chapel of the Holy Cross and St Alban, designed by W F Haslip, of timber felled on the Brickendon estate, in Brickendon, Hertfordshire, England. Constance Demain Saunders, and her mother Minnie Kingsley, donated land and funds to build the church as an architectural and religious gift to the parish in 1932. Constance Demain Saunders (1871–1955), was daughter to Henry Wilson Demain Saunders, of the historic Fanshawe family, who had built Fanshaws (Fanshaws House or Fanshaws Mansion), in 1885 in Brickedon, today the Institute of the Motor Industry on Fanshaws Lane.
