Chainsaw Sculpture-----Horses
The Log-----originally from Bamfield, Vancouver Island, BC
900 years old red cedar (12 feet 6 inches in length)
The Artist-----the carving is done in green (moist) wood, which makes it easier for the Master Carver to work.
Randy Boni uses chainsaws as his only tools. Randy makes no sketches, he attacks the log as a sculptor would a block of marble and the end result is stunning.
"If a tree is dying or has to be taken down, I feel I'm preserving some remembrance of the tree with my carvings"---Randy Boni
Photographed at Spruce Meadows, Calgary, AB
