... the Heavenly Realm

THE SILENCE OF THE FISH

interesting spots in Bruges with fewer tourists

The trigger for the subject of my portfolio was the Bruges project " the silence of the sh " by artist and architect Eric Colpaert to which I was invited as a participant. Unfortunately, this project have been put on hold by the artist in 2022 :

The idea was that each of the 64 participants being visual artists, painters, writers, poets, musicians, architects,

photographers and certain locals came to walk, wander or get lost in the city of Bruges. not with a preconceived goal, but with a carefree focus on the surroundings and/or a series of places that for one reason or another stood out and stayed with us. These spots would then be mapped out, a trail with a brief explanation.

After the stop by the artist, my interest in this project remained intact and I was triggered to explore Bruges, see it differently, stand still and experience it.

I stayed away as much as possible from the ' hotspots ' oversaturated by the 8,000,000 tourists a year. The rather less tourist-visited sites that I find interesting and felt, for whatever reason, got my attention.

So I moved curiously and quietly around in the historic city inside the vests, likefish moving silently underwater, with my camera at the ready.

The physical result of some of my locations became the subject of my photography thesis.
