1974 Yamaha TZ250A
This is what the TZ looked like the week before the 1974 Ontario AMA national. It got a new seat and fairing after the infield disaster at Daytona in March. Two weeks after Ontario, I went to Las Vegas for a race that was on a track that they raced go karts on. There was a right hand corner that had an armco barrier on the outside. It was cold and windy and sand was blowing across the track. I got on the gas and went really sideways in this corner and was at the steering lock (TZ's don't have a lot of steering sweep). Feeling that the next phase of this was going to be an evil "Highside", putting me into the steel barrier, I opted to pull the bike down and lowside, pushing the bike away from me. The bike cleared the end of the barrier, I didn't... Got my leg stuck under the barrier and had to be dug out. My last ride on the TZ. Like I said in another photo, I never really made friends with this bike!
