Remnants and Traces Exhibition
My contribution to this exhibition which is at the Newman Brothers Coffin Factory in Fleet Street, Birmingham, UK.
It is my response to the shroud making records at this factory where it is recorded that in some open coffin burials it is obligatory for the faces of some women be covered by a veil.
This lead to the poem "Lament for an unheard voice" which I have incorporated in this small piece.
A simple project, but powerful I hope.
Mixed media - hand made silk paper, nuno felt, machine and hand stitching and computer printed silk.
