Cat Static..

Comb the cat in dry winter conditions, and you get this---highly charged fur strands straining to get away from each of their neighbors.Like touching the silver ball of a science museum static generator.

I had this happen to my hair on the top deck of a boat during a thunderstormy excursion...NOT a good sign, we got off the deck immediately.Fortunately lightning decided to strike elsewhere.
