Yellow bliss #115
The forest where I got this shot is a bit far from where I live, so I don’t go often there, just a few times a year. But I couldn’t miss the Autumn season. To be honest, I didn’t plan to go on this day in particular; it just crossed my mind as a possibility the previous evening.
I knew that I would go to shoot somewhere in the morning, but I left the final decision of where I would go when I woke up. So, I woke up nice and early, before the sunset, looked at the multiple apps I use for weather conditions, and made a decision to go here.
When I arrived at the entrance of the forest it didn’t look that colourful to me. There was still a lot of greens out there. But, I wasn’t in any way disappointed, It was still a lovely morning and I was among the trees which is something I adore obviously. Then, as I was moving forward through the forest I started to notice some nice yellows and oranges. The best thing out of this is that, as it was still quite early, there was no one there but birds and me. Oh, and I spotted a cat which was a bit odd as I didn’t see one in these forests ever. It was so peaceful and quiet. Such a blissful feeling.
I knew exactly where I was heading through the forest as the trails and spots in it were absolutely familiar to me. This location was a must-check one as I expected that it would be quite photogenic in the Autumn. So I went to the spot where I wanted to take a position to photograph, but I was not expecting to see such a beautiful scene in front of me with all the yellows around. The leaves on the dominant tree on the left were never this vibrant yellow any time before. It was such a lovely surprise. I needed to move a little from the spot where I had previsualized a composition because I wanted to show the full beauty of the part of yellow canopy on the left. The light was overcast, perfect for a forest shot. In the editing process, I played a bit with dodging and burning, and I hope I succeeded in conveying the blissful moment I had when standing there and observing this scene.
This is probably the most colourful photo I’ve got this Autumn and I’ve got many shots that morning in the forest, but this is probably the prettiest one, at least for me. It will be a good reminder to me of that morning and I hope you will like it as least a little as I do.
