Paper Negative I

Inverted paper negative photo of the Pucker Street Dam on the Dowagiac River,

This is my first paper negative experiment. I started with Kentmere fibre based bromide grade 2 paper and cut it to fit the 2. 1/4 3 1/4 Graflex Grafmatic film holders. I used an 80A blue filter (the paper is orthochromatic and even yellow Wratten 8 severely limits exposure) The exposures were made in the Horseman VH-R with the 150mm lens. Not knowing the ISO rating for the film, I metered with the Sekonic L-758DR at ISO 3 and bracketed in 1/2 stop increments for the 6 shots in the holder. The negative made at 2.5 stops faster shutter speed was the best.

I fully developed the paper in Ethol LPD (2 min) and proccessed as if it were a print.

I scanned the linear negative image with the Epson V750 using Silverfast and inverted with Colorneg. A minor curves adjustment lead to the image shown here. There is some spotting in the sky and I am working on figuring out its origin. Focus is a bit soft, and I think this is a scanner issue as the paper negative is sharper.
