Flavoparmelia caperata
Flavoparmelia caperata is a foliose lichen I found on a fallen tree branch. This specimen has soredia present. These are asexual reproductive structures with a powdery consistency seen by zooming in at center. They consist of the fungal hyphae encapsulating the algae which when separated from the thallus and transferred to a fresh substrate can grow into a new lichen.
