Phantom Crane Fly
These Phantom Crane Flies (Bittacomorpha clavipes) were mating around Cowles Bog in the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. The female is at the top. Watching these insects fly is like seeing a flying snow flake being carried by the wind.
