Homage to the Leica M6 (II): Freedom
I took this picture in “La Coruña”, a city located in the Northwest in Spain. It was 2006 and suddenly I found a monument with the word “Libertad” on it. This word means “freedom” in English. But this is in strong contrast with the chains in the image, that means something like slavery. And above all, the observer can see a child. Of course, the freedom of the child is actually guaranteed. However young people have a lot of problems today, with communication, social networks, etc. Are they really free?
Diese Foto nahm ich in La Coruña, also eine Staadt die in Nordwesten Spaniens liegt. Das war 2006 und plötzlich fand ich ein Denkmal mit dem Wort “Libertad” das “Freiheit” auf Deutsch bedeutet. Das war in stark Kontrast mit den Ketten, die etwas wie Sklaverei bedeuten. Und über alles kann der Betrachter ein Kind beobachten. Natürlich die Freiheit des Kindes ist derzeit garantiert. Allerdings haben heutzutage die Jungen viele Probleme mit Kommunikation, soziale Netzwerke usw. Nicht nur in Spanien aber in ganz Europas. Sind sie eigentlich frei?
