Fogbow below Tromm Observation tower.
A fogbow below the Trommturm tower in the Odenwald forest. A fogbow forms when the sun shines on a wall of fog or clouds. It is white because the fog droplets are so small and therefore scatter the light in all directions. Only the Trommturm tower rose above the clouds, which is why this sight was possible. In the center of the image, next to the shadow of the Trommturm tower, you can also see a so-called "Brocken spectre," the photographer's shadow with a colored halo.
Ein Nebelbogen unterhalb des Trommturms im Odenwald. Ein Nebelbogen entsteht, wenn die Sonne auf eine Nebel- oder Wolkenwand scheint. Er erscheint weiß, weil die Nebeltröpfchen so klein sind und das Licht daher in alle Richtungen streuen. Nur der Trommturm ragte über die Wolken hinaus, wodurch dieses Naturschauspiel möglich wurde. In der Bildmitte, neben dem Schatten des Trommturms, ist außerdem ein sogenanntes „Brockengespenst“ zu sehen – der Schatten des Fotografen mit einer farbigen Gloriole.
