Au-dessus du grand portail de la façade de la Cathédrale Saint-Etienne de Metz se déploie la grande verrière occidentale (350 m2). Elle comporte une grande rosace de 11 m de diamètre et fut créée en 1384 par Hermann de Münster (Münster, Westphalie, c.1330 - Metz, 1392). Le programme iconographique illustre la concordance entre les articles du Symbole des Apôtres et leur préfiguration dans l’Ancien Testament.
