R&L was founded here in 1938 as a blue-collar eatery catering to local meat packers. In the 1980s, it morphed into Florent - a "24-hour haunt of late nighters, club kids, sex workers, and New Yorkers who enjoyed eating brunch in a place that often felt like a party." More here.
