The Barry Hill Iron age hillfort built on a conglomerate rock outcrop
The Barry Hill Iron age hillfort built on a conglomerate rock outcrop! This was a heavily defended hill fort approximately 1,000 years ago! There was an adult wildcat partially buried in the snow at the south side of the fort, complete and without visible injury. Looked like it was digging up the frozen cow dung in the area of its resting place.
There is a souterrain to the south-east which could have been an underground food store for the inhabitants of the hill fort and surrounding area.
