Four columns erected in 1998 to commemorate the size of the magnificent Leopoldstadt Temple destroyed by the Nazis during the pogrom night of 9 to 10 November 1938. In Tempelgasse in Leopoldstadt, Vienna's 2nd district.
Before 1938, 60,000 Jews lived in Leopoldstadt, but soon after that, there were none left. Tens of thousands were murdered in concentration camps, while a minority managed to flee in time or survived in the camps.
