Passing The Time
As a youngster, even into adulthood, every time I would catch a Green Sunfish, a little time would have to be spent admiring it's beautiful coloration, from it's brilliant cyan face markings to it's orange to white fin lining. I decided to try and carve one out of basswood, just so I could attempt to match the beautiful coloration of this little sunfish. Natures version is perfect, mine is a reasonable copy maybe if I squint hard enough, but a fun little project none the less. There have been a few ideas floating around in my head as to how this 10" wooden sunfish should be mounted for display, from a 3-D frame to a simple base. Time will tell, as I currently sculpt a large male Pumpkinseed Sunfish. Lack of planning has always been a weakness, just do it and worry about the fine details later, otherwise too much planning kills an idea. Anyway, stay inspired by what you see out in the world, and try to inspire others along the way.
