Cygnet
After watching this cygnet sleeping in the water I set off for a walk, and glanced back to see that it had tried to climb out of the water and got stuck under the concrete edge of the pond. I watched it for a while to see if it could free itself. It was rather disturbing to watch, after a while the decision was made that it needed help. I put the camera away put my dog under my arm and began digging out the cygnet at the same time fending off daddy swan, as you can imagine daddy swan was not at all happy, mummy swan wasn't too fussed. Team work was required, I saw a man and shouted for help, between us we were able to free the little one. With just a slight cut on his foot, and a considerable time cleaning and preening, I watched with glee as neither adult swan rejected it, after a while the cygnet got back in the water onto mums back and swam to a safer island in the middle. Hoping this beautiful cygnet grows up to live a happy and healthy life.
