Thistle Flower

Every year I see more and more Thistle plants growing and flowering around my nook of Mid-Michigan. I'm being told that the species which grows around here are invasive. They somehow make the soil around them poisonous to other plants, which keeps those plants from growing near by. Flowers are pretty however, so they aren't totally bad I guess.
