Tor Point and Loch Ness nearing a summer sunset from near to Lochend, Inverness-shire, Scotland.
Commentary.
World famous slopes plunge into the cryptid-hunter’s mecca or the alcoholic’s hallucination centre.
True or not, the “monster” saga should never
diminish or over-ride the sobering beauty and spirit of this place.
Looking south from over 200 feet above Lairgmore we see the sharply reflected, pine-laden slopes of Tor Point towards the north-eastern end of Loch Ness.
Across the waters above the village of Dores
the mast marks a point over 1,500 feet above the looming depths.
An iconic view of an iconic lake.
How could a thousand foot deep chasm, twenty-three miles long and up to a mile and a half wide, with an endless food supply, never frozen water, blocked from the sea 10,000 years ago, harbour a colony of unidentified creatures?
Impossible!
Ridiculous!
