Rocky north shore of Loch Ness looking towards Urquhart Bay and Meall-fhuar Mhonaidh at sunset, Inverness-shire, Scotland.
Poem.
Sweet summer.
Sun begins to set.
Rocky northern shore.
A warm glow bounces off
the glassy surface of Loch Ness.
Foreground boulders mimic the
dominant hump of Meall Fuar-Mhonaidh,
on the fault-bearing north shore,
beyond Urquhart Bay and its castle.
Munro mountains of Loch Lochy
fade to pencil sketches,
nearly 30 miles to the south-west.
A cheerful, cosy, friendly gleam
shows no monsters,
but its mighty self.
