Owing to the inhospitability and remoteness of their home, as well as their excessive hostility, little is known for sure about the frost trolls. Widely accepted academia states they live in ancient temple-cities nestled deep in frozen valleys, and are ruled by a caste of shamanistic witch-doctors who practice forbidden necromancy.
Scholars debate whether the frost trolls are a disorganized smattering of independent, possibly rival tribes, or a vast united empire similar to other, better known and more diplomatic troll civilisations.
Wandering traders embellish troll ambushes, describing silent reavers cloaked by unnatural, conjured blizzards and hailstorms descending upon merchant and adventurer alike. Whether these stories are true or not, the damage troll attacks cause to tundra caravans is very real.
Encounters with them are rare - survivors even rarer - so it is never easy to determine whether the attacking troll was living, or one of their undead...
