Chesil Defences 20 - Anti-Tank Cube wall

Chesil Beach WW2 Defences, Dorset, England.

National Grid Ref: SY 568 839

The Anti-Tank Cube double wall extending into the Fleet .

A large number of pillboxes were built along the Fleet and Chesil Beach shoreline during WWII as part of the fortifications against a possible invasion. This particular line of Anti-Tank Cube obstacles was built to prevent any enemy armoured vehicles that may have landed to the east on Chesil Beach from gaining access to the land west of the lagoon from where the vehicles could have headed inland.
