New lamps for old in 2017
A couple of weeks ago our electrician son completed the changeover from halogen down-lights to state of the art LED down-lights in our house. The new type can be seen on the right in the above photo. They consume 8 watts per lamp compared to a maximum of 50 watts with the older halogen lamp and its external transformer on the left. Besides using much less energy and running cooler, the new LEDs also produce brighter more pleasing 'warm white' light. We've also changed over all the old fleuro style lamps which replaced the hundred watt tungsten lamps ten or twelve years ago to self-contained state of the art 14 watt LED bulbs. The daily power consumption for lighting in our house is now dramatically much less than it was a few months ago. Overall we are very pleased with the change. On 4 October 2012 I wrote about the termination of our first experiment with LED lighting in our house at fremantlebiz.livejournal.com/803837.html
