This male Rufous Hummingbird has ruled the backyard all summer chasing birds of all sizes on their way. Some take heed while others just ignore him! He is gorgeous out in the sun but rarely do we see him as when we are outside as he retreats to sit in the shade of one of the big spruce trees guarding his prized feeder. So it was time to set up the flash and take pictures which he didn't seem to mind at all! Eventually I will get him out in out in the sun............. maybe?
