More Spring Buds
The pink buds on this tree greeted us on our walk today. It was a subtle reminder that the Earth is thriving again—springing back to life—at a time when the rest of the world feels like its dying. Like the seasons come and go, so will this struggle. COVID-19 will test our resolve. It will force us to change in ways we never imagined. For some it already has. But like the planet Earth, we will spring back, and recover from this pandemic. We will overcome the health crisis, and financial struggles. We will make up for lost time with friends and family; and celebrate the birthdays and anniversaries we missed. We will hug, kiss and embrace each other again, without fear of dire consequences. Most of all, we will have gained a much greater appreciation for the short, perhaps trivial, human interactions that we have come to take for granted. The small talk at the office water cooler. The lunchroom chats with friends. The banter back and forth with a sports rival. These moments don’t define us or shape the outcomes of our lives; but they do enrich us and fulfill one of our most essential human needs: socialization. Stay safe, stay well, and don’t lose hope. God bless!
