Von der Iglesia De Santiago folgt der Blick der Av. Maritime über den Hafen bis zum Ortsteil Las Trincheras, der auf dem Felsen oberhalb des Hafens liegt.
PLAYA DE SANTIAGO
Das einstmals beschauliche Fischerdorf im Süden La Gomeras hat sich zu einem regelrechten kleinen Tourismuszentrum entwickelt. Dies verdankt Playa de Santiago zwei Gründen: zum einen der Tatsache, dass es in einer der sonnenreichsten Regionen der ganzen Insel liegt, zum anderen der norwegischen Reederei Fred Olsen. Diese erkannte die Möglichkeit, die Playa de Santiago infolge der zahlreichen Sonnenstunden bot und errichtete hier vor mehr als 20 Jahren das Jardín Tecina, das größte Hotel der Insel, das regelrecht eine eigene kleine Welt mit Geschäften, Restaurants, Pools und einer Tennisschule bildet. Seitdem wurde die touristische Infrastruktur immer weiter ausgebaut.
Seit 1999 befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe des Ortes der Flughafen von La Gomera. 2003 eröffnete hier der erste und bislang einzige Golfplatz der Insel, selbstverständlich im Komplex des Jardín Tecina. Nach dem Entfernen größerer Steine bieten die verschiedenen Strände Playa de Santiagos inzwischen auch schon eher die Möglichkeit zum Baden, wenn es sicher auch feinsandigere Strände geben mag. Für den notwendigen Schutz vor der Brandung sorgt eine Mole.
Playa de Santiago selbst gliedert sich in vier Ortsteile. Im engeren Sinne handelt es sich aber eigentlich nur bei dem Gebiet um den Hafen um Playa de Santiago. Hier findet man Restaurants, Apartments und Hotels, Supermärkte und eine Post.

PLAYA DE SANTIAGO
The once tranquil fishing village in the south of La Gomera has developed into a veritable small tourist center. Playa de Santiago owes this to two reasons: on the one hand, the fact that it is located in one of the sunniest regions on the whole island, and on the other hand, the Norwegian shipping company Fred Olsen. They recognized the possibility that Playa de Santiago offered due to the numerous hours of sunshine and built the Jardín Tecina here more than 20 years ago, the largest hotel on the island, which literally forms its own little world with shops, restaurants, pools and a tennis school. Since then, the tourist infrastructure has been continuously expanded.
The airport of La Gomera has been located in the immediate vicinity of the town since 1999. In 2003 the first and so far only golf course on the island opened here, of course in the Jardín Tecina complex. After the larger stones have been removed, the various beaches of Playa de Santiago are now more likely to offer the opportunity to swim, if there are certainly beaches with more fine sand. A pier provides the necessary protection from the surf.
Playa de Santiago itself is divided into four districts. In a narrower sense, it is actually only the area around the port around Playa de Santiago. Here you will find restaurants, apartments and hotels, supermarkets and a post office.
