African Elephant
This was a piece of coursework used in the module Past, Present and Future in my GCSE Art. This was drawn using graphite pencils ranging from 4B to 6B, as I felt this complimented the darkness of the module of life and death. I studied Nick Brandt for this type of drawing, as I was inspired by his photography and his ability to capture life and death in his work. This graphite drawing was based on a piece of his own photography, capturing an African elephant walking through long grass. All of Brandt's subjects were photographed in black and white, creating a sense of darkness. Hence why I chose to do a graphite drawing as this compliments the theme.
