the second best view
The Shangri-La Hotel in Dubai is known for its view from the roof-top terrace on the 42nd floor. On my first visit in 2019, I was able to photograph a glorious blue hour with colored afterglow from the sunset from there. The view from up there is also spectacular when Dubai sinks into the fog and the skyscrapers protrude from it. Unfortunately, this is only the case for a few days a year. Nevertheless, I treated myself to another night at the Shangri-La. Sometimes you can be lucky and catch the fog. In the evening I was very unlucky, because a guy had rented the large roof terrace on the south side for a private dinner - apparently he wanted to propose to his partner. I was only left with the view from the somewhat set back central roof terrace. There is no clear view to the west from there, the hotel is in the way. And you don't get the full picture of the large intersection at the foot of the hotel either. Still, I tried to make the best of the situation.
