There is something quite special about terns and this dapper Inca Tern with its magnificent white moustache is no exception to this. It is not just the males which can be found sporting this fine moustache though, it is also shared by the females. Interestingly, the longer the moustache, the healthier the bird so naturally you are most likely to find those with longer moustaches with a partner who shares an equally impressive moustache. This striking tern was photographed by David Shackelford in Peru where its range extends into Chile.
