Modern "Cave Art"
Although self expression may not have been a concept to the Neanderthals, it has become one of the most important parts of life for some modern humans. To me, this art represents the desire to succeed along with the struggles of comparing yourself to others like you (as the penguin cannot fly, but tries anyway because it is a bird). If future archeologists discovered this art, they may conclude that our society had left certain individuals feeling a sense of struggle against the odds, but a determination to succeed against them. Without context however, there is nothing to say that those future scientists might not think we literally and ritualistically tied penguins to balloons as sacrifices for our deities.
