The great escape of the Zebra Finch
I sat in my study and heard birdsong. I had never heard this sound from outside before. I got up and looked out the window. This Zebra Finch (Taeniopygia guttata) sat on the windowsill. I carefully opened the window. He sat there for a moment, but moved in small jumps to the end of the windowsill. Then the Zebra Finch flew to the edge of the roof. It's an escaped Zebra Finch. I was late to catch the Zebra Finch. Unfortunately, I also don't know where the finch comes from so I am not able to warn the aviary keeper.
I hope he finds his way back safely. There are quite a few magpies active in our neighborhood
