Abandoned by everyone, this one-legged old man with diabetes lives on his own in the village of Sokol. Just occasionally his deaf-mute neighbor comes to visit him. But her own family doesn't want her to do it, Ilya says. He doesn't blame them, saying that everyone is just trying to survive here.
