Saint John the Baptist Hunter's Church
This orthodox byzantine church is dedicated to John the Baptist but is commemorated by one of its early benefactors and monks Basil Hunter (Vasilieos Kinigos). It's building date is not fully determined but it's assumed to be between the late 10th century up to the early 13th century. Position on Hymettus mountain in Attica. The church is within a nowadays female only convent (since 1975). The convent is also mysteriously called "The Philosophers' convent" convent and another mystery is why in the 1920's the famous Cretan author Nikos Kazantzakis wanted to make a spiritual community here.
