HISTORY

Pillar completed 16th August 1956 costing £153.17s.2d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NS29/T69 within the Greenock secondary block, and levelled to second class precision during 1957. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in May 1980.

 

SITE VISIT

Parked in a layby in Lochawe near the church. Quite a slog up from the village on a hot day. The pillar surface is slightly weathered. The spider centre is open. The flush bracket faces east compass measurement 79°. All four sight holes are open, the pillar bolt is easily seen. Full 360° panorama from the top.
